Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Blender

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 3/4 cup milk of choice I used almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water or almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • whipped cream for topping
  • extra matcha powder for garnish

Instructions

  • Start by combining the chia seeds, milk, matcha powder, and maple syrup in a bowl. Whisk together thoroughly until everything is well combined. You'll notice the texture begins to change as the chia seeds absorb the liquid. It should have a slightly thick consistency. Now, place this mixture in the fridge to allow it to thicken further; this will create the chia pudding base for your smoothie.
  • While the chia pudding is chilling, you can prepare the smoothie base. In a blender, combine the orange juice, water, frozen banana, frozen blueberries, and frozen pineapple. Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth. If it’s too thick, add a bit more water or almond milk until it’s at your desired consistency. You want it to be easily pourable but still thick enough to hold its shape.
  • Once the smoothie is blended, it’s time to layer your drink. Start by pouring a small amount of the purple smoothie into the bottom of a clear glass. The colors will make it look even more magical. Next, add a few spoonfuls of the chia pudding around the edges of the glass. This is where the fun begins! You can see the pudding peeking through like “bat warts and lizard scales.” It’s a whimsical touch that adds to the Halloween theme.
  • Continue layering the smoothie and chia pudding until the glass is full. Be creative with your layering; the more colors you can showcase, the better! You can alternate between the smoothie and chia pudding to create a visually striking effect.
  • Finally, top your creation with a generous dollop of whipped cream for that extra indulgence. You can also sprinkle a little extra matcha powder on top for a beautiful finishing touch. It adds a lovely green hue and a hint of flavor.
  • Serve your Witch’s Brew Smoothie immediately and watch as your family and friends are enchanted by its beauty and taste. Enjoy this spooky treat on Halloween or any day you want to bring a little magic into your life!
