Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare an 8x8-inch baking dish by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  • Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  • Remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar until well combined.
  • Add the egg and whisk until fully incorporated.
  • Sift in cocoa powder and flour, folding until just combined.
  • Sprinkle in salt and baking powder, folding gently to combine.
  • Fold in chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Slice into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
