Instructions
 

  • Trim any excess fat from the brisket and pat it dry.
  • In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground black pepper, and salt to create a dry rub.
  • Rub the spice mixture generously over the brisket.
  • Optional: Sear the brisket in a hot skillet with oil for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  • Transfer the brisket to the slow cooker and pour the beef broth around it.
  • Pour half of the barbecue sauce over the brisket.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 6 hours.
  • Once cooked, remove the brisket and let it rest before shredding it with two forks.
  • Return the shredded brisket to the slow cooker and mix with the remaining barbecue sauce.
  • Toast the sandwich buns lightly.
  • Assemble the sandwiches by piling the shredded brisket onto the buns and adding optional toppings.
  • Serve warm with your favorite sides.
