  • 3 cups All-purpose flour Essential for the dough structure.

  • 1 teaspoon Granulated sugar Activates the yeast.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor and controls fermentation.
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter Melted, enriches the dough.

Filling Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Cream cheese Softened, primary filling.
  • 1 cup Shredded cheddar cheese For a sharp, rich flavor.
  • 2-3 Fresh jalapenos Finely chopped, adds heat.
  • 2-3 Green onions Chopped, adds freshness.

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil For greasing the skillet.

Instructions
 

  • 1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water with sugar and sprinkling yeast on top. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well, add melted butter and activated yeast mixture, and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • 3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about an hour until doubled in size.
  • 5. Prepare the filling by mixing cream cheese, cheddar cheese, jalapenos, and green onions in a bowl.
  • 6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the cheese mixture over it, and roll it up tightly.
  • 7. Cut the rolled dough into 1-2 inch pieces.
  • 8. Preheat a skillet over medium heat, add oil, and place rolls cut-side down. Cook covered for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • 9. Flip the rolls and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until fully cooked.
  • 10. Remove from skillet, cool on a wire rack, and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best texture.
