Instructions
Slice the challah bread into thick slices, about 1-inch thick, and set aside.
Wash and slice the fresh peaches thinly, then sprinkle with brown sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk until combined. Add milk and whisk until smooth.
Incorporate cinnamon and nutmeg into the egg mixture and mix well.
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter to melt.
Dip each slice of challah bread into the egg mixture, coating both sides without soaking too long.
Place dipped bread slices onto the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
Transfer cooked French toast to a plate and keep warm in a preheated oven at 200°F (93°C).
Add sliced peaches to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until soft and caramelized.
Plate a slice of French toast, top with warm caramelized peaches, and finish with powdered sugar and maple syrup if desired.
Repeat for remaining French toast and peaches, serving immediately.
Notes
Consider adding different fruits or nuts for variations. Serve with fresh fruit salad or yogurt for a complete meal.
