Ingredients
  

Ground Meat

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.

Vegetables

  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 0.5 cup Bell Pepper Diced, any color.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 cup Tomato Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Yellow Mustard

Seasonings

  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Buns

  • 4 pieces Hamburger Buns Soft, whole wheat or white.

Instructions
 

  • Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the meat is browned and fully cooked, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the finely chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened and the onion becomes translucent.
  • Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  • Pour in the tomato sauce, followed by the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Stir everything together thoroughly.
  • Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste. Let it simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Prepare your hamburger buns by toasting them lightly on a separate skillet or in a toaster.
  • Once the sloppy joe mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat. Scoop the mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.
  • Top each sandwich with the other half of the bun and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Consider adding toppings such as shredded cheese, pickles, or coleslaw for added flavor.
