Instructions
Begin by heating a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the meat is browned and fully cooked, stirring occasionally.
Add the finely chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened and the onion becomes translucent.
Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Pour in the tomato sauce, followed by the brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Stir everything together thoroughly.
Season the mixture with salt and pepper according to your taste. Let it simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes.
Prepare your hamburger buns by toasting them lightly on a separate skillet or in a toaster.
Once the sloppy joe mixture has thickened, remove it from the heat. Scoop the mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.
Top each sandwich with the other half of the bun and serve immediately while warm.
Notes
Consider adding toppings such as shredded cheese, pickles, or coleslaw for added flavor.
