  • 12 ounces Fresh Cranberries Rinsed and sorted, remove any damaged berries.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Adjust based on taste preference.
  • 1 cup Water Filtered water is recommended for better flavor.
  • 1 zest Orange (optional) For a fresh citrus note.
  • 1 pinch Ground Cinnamon (optional) Adds warmth and depth to the sauce.

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water and remove any damaged berries.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the rinsed cranberries to the saucepan and stir to coat them with the syrup.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, allowing the cranberries to burst (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens.
  • If using, add orange zest and ground cinnamon during the last few minutes of cooking.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature before transferring to a serving dish.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary, then refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

This sauce can be served warm or chilled and pairs well with a variety of dishes.
