Ingredients
  

Yams

  • 2 pounds Yams Peeled and cut into uniform chunks.

Sweet Glaze Ingredients

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Packed for best results.
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter At room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon For flavor enhancement.
  • 0.25 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg A pinch adds warmth.
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt To balance sweetness.
  • 0.25 cup Water To create steam during baking.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peeled and cut yams into even-sized chunks, approximately 1-inch thick.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the cut yams to the bowl and toss gently until fully coated.
  • Grease a baking dish and transfer the coated yams into it, spreading them evenly.
  • Pour water into the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake uncovered for an additional 20 to 30 minutes until fork-tender.
  • Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with additional cinnamon or nuts if desired.

Notes

These yams can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Reheat before serving.
