Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and brown it, breaking it into small pieces.
  • Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, sautéing until the onion is translucent (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and garlic powder, simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  • Spread the meat mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Layer the frozen tater tots on top of the meat mixture.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  • Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
