Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and brown it, breaking it into small pieces.
Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, sautéing until the onion is translucent (about 5-7 minutes).
Stir in the sloppy joe sauce and garlic powder, simmer for 3-5 minutes.
Spread the meat mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
Layer the frozen tater tots on top of the meat mixture.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
