  • 1 loaf French Bread About 12 inches long, sliced down the middle.
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Lean variety preferred.
  • 1 medium Green Bell Pepper Diced.
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 4 tbsp Butter Unsalted, melted.
  • 2 cups Provolone Cheese Shredded.
  • to taste Salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a small bowl, combine melted butter with minced garlic.
  • Cut the French bread loaf in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush garlic butter mixture over the cut sides.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onions and diced bell peppers to the skillet and sauté for another 5-6 minutes until tender.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of shredded provolone cheese until melted.
  • Spread the cheesesteak mixture evenly over the garlic buttered bread halves.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cup of provolone cheese over the filled bread.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

For variations, consider adding jalapeños for spice, using different cheeses, or making a vegetarian version with mushrooms and zucchini.
