Savory Homemade Pizza Cruffins are an innovative twist on classic pizza, combining the flaky, buttery texture of a croissant with rich, zesty flavors. Perfect for any occasion, these cruffins are filled with gooey cheese, savory vegetables, and aromatic herbs.
In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Mix thoroughly.
Gradually add 1.5 cups of warm water to the dry mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Prepare the filling by mixing 2 cups of shredded cheese, 0.5 cups of pizza sauce, 1-2 cups of chopped vegetables, and 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning in a bowl.
Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
Brush melted butter over the rolled-out dough.
Spread the filling mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
Roll the dough tightly from one edge and pinch the seams to seal.
Slice the rolled dough into pieces about 1.5 inches thick.
Place each slice cut side up in a greased muffin tin.
Cover and let the cruffins rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Bake the cruffins for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
