Whisked with 1 tablespoon of water.
Instructions
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the sliced onions and cook for 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
Add minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the onions, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 4x4 inch squares.
Place a tablespoon of the onion mixture and a generous amount of cheese in the center of each pastry square. Fold corners to seal.
Brush the tops with the egg wash and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven to restore crispiness.
