Equipment

  • Nordic Ware Metal 9×13 Covered Cake Pan
  • 6-quart Dutch Oven
  • Silicone Spatula Set

Ingredients

  • ½ cup salted butter
  • 20 ounces mini marshmallows
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 8 ounces salted kettle chips

Instructions

  • Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or foil. This will prevent sticking and make for easy removal later. Grease the pan with butter or nonstick cooking spray for added assurance.
  • In a large pan, melt the butter over low heat. Be patient and stir occasionally to prevent burning. Once it’s melted, set aside 2 cups of the mini marshmallows for later. Add the remaining marshmallows to the pan.
  • Continue stirring until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth. This step is crucial; you want a silky mixture without any lumps. Remove the pan from heat once fully melted.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and ensure it’s well incorporated into the melted marshmallow mixture. The aroma of vanilla will add a lovely touch to your treats.
  • Now, gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal and salted kettle chips to the pan. Stir gently until everything is well coated with the marshmallow mixture. Look for an even distribution of the crunchy chips and cereal.
  • Fold in the reserved marshmallows gently. This creates pockets of gooey goodness that will make your treats even more delightful.
  • Using a buttered spatula or your clean hands, carefully press the mixture into the prepared pan. Don’t squish it too firmly; you want to keep that ooey-gooey texture!
  • Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature. This step is essential as it helps them set properly before slicing.
  • Once cool, remove from the pan using the parchment or foil. Cut into bars or squares, and enjoy the delicious combination of flavors!
