  • 1. Prepare the ingredients: Finely chop the onion and bell peppers. Mince the garlic and set aside.
  • 2. Heat the skillet: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat until hot.
  • 3. Sauté the vegetables: Add the chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  • 4. Add the garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • 5. Brown the beef: Push the vegetable mixture to one side and add the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • 6. Season the mixture: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • 7. Melt the cheese: Place provolone cheese on top, cover, and reduce heat to low until melted.
  • 8. Prepare the buns: Lightly toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  • 9. Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and add optional toppings.
