  • 2 cups Heavy Cream Essential for achieving a rich, creamy texture.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced for flavor.
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese Gruyère or sharp cheddar works well.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 pinch Nutmeg Optional, for added flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Peeled and slice sweet potatoes into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Heat until hot but not boiling.
  • Prepare a 9x13 inch baking dish by greasing it with butter or cooking spray.
  • Layer sweet potato slices in the baking dish, slightly overlapping each slice.
  • Pour a portion of the heated cream mixture over the sweet potatoes and sprinkle with cheese.
  • Repeat layering until all sweet potatoes are used, finishing with cream and cheese on top.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Let the dish rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For variations, consider adding jalapeños for spice or mixing in other root vegetables.
