Instructions
 

  • Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, typically around 8 to 10 minutes, until al dente.
  • While the spaghetti is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well to combine with the garlic and oil.
  • Season the sauce with oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the chopped basil to the sauce and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve about a cup of pasta water before draining.
  • Add the drained spaghetti directly to the skillet with the sauce and toss to coat.
  • Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stove.
