Instructions
Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Once the water is boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions, typically around 8 to 10 minutes, until al dente.
While the spaghetti is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well to combine with the garlic and oil.
Season the sauce with oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
Add the chopped basil to the sauce and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve about a cup of pasta water before draining.
Add the drained spaghetti directly to the skillet with the sauce and toss to coat.
Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
