  • 1 pound Flank Steak 1 to 1.5 pounds, known for its distinct flavor and lean texture.
  • 2 teaspoons Salt Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground for best flavor.
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter For the savory sauce.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced or crushed.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Herbs Chopped thyme or rosemary.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Freshly squeezed.

Instructions
 

  • 1. Let the flank steak sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  • 2. Season both sides of the steak with salt and black pepper.
  • 3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • 4. Add 1 tablespoon of butter to the skillet and let it melt.
  • 5. Place the seasoned flank steak in the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes without moving it.
  • 6. Flip the steak, add another tablespoon of butter, garlic, and herbs, and baste the steak.
  • 7. Cook for an additional 4 to 5 minutes for medium-rare.
  • 8. Remove the steak and let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • 9. Prepare the butter sauce by adding remaining butter and lemon juice to the skillet.
  • 10. Slice the steak against the grain and drizzle with the butter sauce.
  • 11. Serve immediately.

Notes

For variations, consider adding crushed red pepper flakes or honey to the sauce, or serve with roasted vegetables.
