Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Chef's Knife
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying Pan

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 6 fillets Tilapia fish fillets boneless and skinless
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Start by mixing the salt, paprika, and black pepper together in a small bowl. This spice mix will not only season the tilapia but also enhance its natural flavors. Rub this mixture generously into both sides of the tilapia fillets, ensuring they are well-coated.
  • Next, heat 2 tablespoons of the unsalted butter along with the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. The combination of butter and oil prevents the butter from burning while adding richness to the dish.
  • Once the butter is melted and sizzling, carefully add 2 to 3 tilapia fillets to the pan. Be sure not to overcrowd the skillet; this allows for even cooking and ensures the fillets get that nice golden crust.
  • Fry the fillets for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. You’ll know they’re ready to flip when they develop a light golden color and are easy to lift from the skillet. Use a spatula to turn them gently, being careful not to break the fillets apart.
  • After cooking the first batch, remove the fillets from the skillet and set them aside on a plate. You can cover them with foil to keep them warm while you prepare the remaining fillets.
  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan. Let it melt before adding the rest of the tilapia fillets. Repeat the frying process for these fillets, ensuring they are cooked to the same beautiful golden brown.
  • Once all the fillets are cooked, serve them immediately. You can plate them with a sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley on top to add a pop of color and freshness. Pair with your choice of sides for a complete meal.

Notes

Take care not to overcook the tilapia. It is quick to cook and only requires a couple of minutes on each side. The fish should flake easily with a fork once it is cooked through.
