Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Chef's Knife
  • Whisk
  • Baking Sheet
  • Food Processor
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 24 pieces Oreos finely crushed (I use my food processor)
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 4 oz. BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate roughly chopped
  • 1/3 cup canned sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable oil
  • 2 packages JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding each 3.9 oz.
  • 2 1/2 cups cold milk
  • 1 tub Cool Whip Whipped Topping thawed, divided

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. This step is crucial as it ensures your crust bakes evenly.
  • In a large bowl, combine the finely crushed Oreos with the melted butter. Stir until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.
  • Pour the mixture into a 9” pie plate and firmly press the crumbs into the bottom and up the sides to form an even layer. Make sure to pack it down well so it holds its shape.
  • Bake the crust for 8 minutes at 350 degrees F. After baking, cool completely before proceeding to the next step. It's best to let it sit for a while to become firm.
  • In a medium bowl, add the chopped chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and vegetable oil. Microwave at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth. This method ensures that the chocolate melts evenly without burning.
  • Once melted, pour the chocolate mixture immediately into the cooled pie crust. Spread it evenly across the bottom using a spatula.
  • In another bowl, beat the JELL-O Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding mixes with the cold milk using a handheld whisk for 2 minutes. The mixture will become thick, which is perfect for layering.
  • Spoon 1 and ½ cups of the pudding over the chocolate layer and smooth it out to create an even layer.
  • To the remaining pudding, gently fold in half of the thawed Cool Whip. Spread this mixture over the pudding layer in the crust, ensuring it's evenly distributed.
  • Top your pie with the remaining Cool Whip and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, though it's best if left overnight. Chilling allows the flavors to meld beautifully.
  • When ready to serve, garnish with fresh raspberries, crushed Oreos, and shaved chocolate if desired. This adds a lovely touch and enhances the presentation.

Notes

When it comes to Mud Pie, storage is easy! Just keep any leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to three days. If you want to save it longer, try freezing! Just make sure to wrap it tightly. The texture might change slightly, but the taste will still be fantastic. Remember, this pie is best enjoyed fresh, so gather family and friends and dig in!
