  • 1 pound Tomatillos Remove husks and rinse before use.
  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped, use white or yellow for traditional flavor.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced, fresh garlic is recommended.
  • 1-2 pieces Fresh Green Chilies Jalapeño or serrano, adjust for heat preference.
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Cilantro Use leaves and tender stems only.
  • 1 Juice Lime Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • to taste Salt Adjust according to preference.

Instructions
 

  • 1. Prepare the tomatillos: Remove husks and rinse under cold water. Pat dry.
  • 2. Roast the tomatillos: In a dry skillet over medium heat, add tomatillos cut-side down and roast for 5-7 minutes until slightly charred.
  • 3. Combine the ingredients: In a blender, add roasted tomatillos, onion, garlic, chilies, cilantro, and lime juice. Pulse until well combined but slightly chunky.
  • 4. Season to taste: Add salt as needed and adjust chilies for spice preference.
  • 5. Chill: Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • 6. Serve: Stir well and enjoy with your favorite dishes.

Notes

For variations, consider adding avocado for creaminess or fruits for sweetness.
