Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying Pan
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 4 cups blackberries
  • 3/4 cup almond meal or almond flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated erythritol or xylitol (or sugar)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp butter or coconut oil

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F. It's important to have your oven hot and ready to create that perfectly baked topping.
  • Grease an 8-inch pan with a little butter or coconut oil to prevent sticking. If you’re feeling ambitious, consider doubling the recipe and using a 9x13-inch pan for larger gatherings.
  • If you're using frozen blackberries or any other fruit, make sure to thaw them first. Drain any excess liquid to avoid a soggy cobbler.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the thawed blackberries with 3 tablespoons of erythritol. Gently mix to coat the berries evenly, enhancing their natural sweetness.
  • Spread the blackberry mixture evenly into the prepared pan, creating a base that will be both juicy and flavorful once baked.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients: almond flour, erythritol, and ground cinnamon. Stir well to mix everything together.
  • Now, add in the butter or coconut oil. Using a fork, mix until the mixture forms small crumbles, resembling a loose dough.
  • Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the fruit layer in the pan. This will create the perfect textural contrast once baked.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Keep an eye on it; you want the berries to be bubbly and thick, while the almond topping turns a lovely golden-brown.
  • Once done, remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve warm or cold, and store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator or freezer for later enjoyment.
