Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole raw almonds
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cubed butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup finely chopped pecans

Instructions
 

  • Gather all the ingredients and have them measured before you start this recipe.
  • Place the1 cup whole raw almonds on a plate and microwave them for 2-3 minutes on HIGH to toast them.
  • Line a 9×13-inch baking sheet with foil and place the toasted almonds in a single layer on the sheet.
  • Add the1 cup granulated sugar,1 cup cubed butter,1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and¼ teaspoon salt to a large heavy-bottomed saucepan and melt over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • When the ingredients are completely melted, continuously stir and gradually increase the heat to medium-high. Keep stirring for 10-15 minutes until the toffee is a golden brown color. As soon as it reaches the right color, quickly pour the toffee over the almonds in the prepared pan.
  • Let it cool for about 2-3 minutes, then sprinkle with2 cups milk chocolate chips. Let it rest for another couple of minutes so the chocolate chips will melt, then spread the melted chocolate over the toffee.
  • Sprinkle the¼ cup finely chopped pecans over the melted chocolate and let the toffee cool completely.
  • After the toffee and chocolate are completely cooled, use a butter knife to break apart the toffee. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
