Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 1 pound Ground Beef Lean ground beef for the base of the casserole.

Vegetables

  • 2 medium Bell Peppers One red and one green, sliced thinly.
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.

Cheese

  • 2 cups Shredded Provolone or Mozzarella Cheese For topping.

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning

Casserole Dish

  • 1 9x13 inch Casserole Dish For baking.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Lower the heat to medium and add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3 minutes until onions are translucent.
  • Add the sliced bell peppers and cook for an additional 5 minutes until they soften slightly.
  • Sprinkle in the salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, mixing well.
  • In a greased casserole dish, spread half of the beef and vegetable mixture evenly across the bottom.
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese over the first layer.
  • Add the remaining beef and vegetable mixture on top of the cheese, followed by another layer of cheese.
  • Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Let it rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days. This casserole freezes well for up to three months.
