Approximately 1 cup of kernels makes around 8 cups of popped popcorn.
1/2
cup
Unsalted butter
Melted to bind the popcorn together.
1
cup
Granulated sugar

1/2
cup
Light corn syrup
Helps keep the popcorn moist and binds the ingredients.
1/2
teaspoon
Salt
Balances the sweetness of the sugar.
a few drops
Food coloring
Optional for adding color to the popcorn.
1
cup
Candy toppings
Customize with chocolate chips, sprinkles, or mini marshmallows.
Instructions
Pop the popcorn kernels using a popcorn maker or stovetop method. Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl.
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
Add granulated sugar and light corn syrup to the melted butter. Stir until smooth and bubbly, about 3-5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add a pinch of salt. If using, add food coloring and stir well.
Pour the melted mixture over the popped popcorn and gently fold until evenly coated.
Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes, then grease hands and form into balls about the size of a golf ball.
Roll each ball in candy toppings if desired, then place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool completely.
Let the popcorn balls set for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Customize with different flavored popcorn or toppings.
