Instructions
 

  • 1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix thoroughly.
  • 3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until it forms a shaggy dough.
  • 4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • 5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • 6. Prepare garlic butter by melting butter in a saucepan and adding minced garlic. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • 7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
  • 8. Brush the melted garlic butter over the dough, then sprinkle shredded cheese and fresh herbs on top.
  • 9. Cut the dough into 2-inch squares and stack them in a greased bundt pan.
  • 10. Cover the pan and let the dough rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  • 11. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • 12. Allow the bread to cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to two days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes.
