Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Peel and core the apples, then dice them into small cubes.
Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add the diced apples.
Add brown sugar and cinnamon to the pan, stirring well. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until apples are slightly softened.
Remove from heat and stir in the caramel sauce until apples are coated. Let cool slightly.
Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
Cut the pastry into 4-inch squares or rectangles.
Place a tablespoon of the apple-caramel mixture in the center of each pastry square.
Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and seal the edges, crimping with a fork if desired.
Prepare the egg wash by whisking the egg with water, then brush the tops of the pastries.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the pastries on it.
Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
Let cool for a few minutes, then drizzle with additional caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
Consider adding nuts or dried fruits for extra flavor. Serve warm with ice cream for a delightful dessert.
