  • 1 package Frozen Puff Pastry Typically comes with 2 sheets, thaw according to package instructions.
  • 2-3 medium-sized Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Peel, core, and dice into small cubes.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Adds depth and richness to the caramel.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Enhances the flavors of apples and caramel.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Helps caramelize the apples and adds flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Caramel Sauce Store-bought or homemade, for filling and drizzling.
  • 1 egg Egg Wash Mixed with 1 tablespoon of water for brushing.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Peel and core the apples, then dice them into small cubes.
  • Melt the butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add the diced apples.
  • Add brown sugar and cinnamon to the pan, stirring well. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until apples are slightly softened.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the caramel sauce until apples are coated. Let cool slightly.
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Cut the pastry into 4-inch squares or rectangles.
  • Place a tablespoon of the apple-caramel mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  • Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and seal the edges, crimping with a fork if desired.
  • Prepare the egg wash by whisking the egg with water, then brush the tops of the pastries.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the pastries on it.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes, then drizzle with additional caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

Consider adding nuts or dried fruits for extra flavor. Serve warm with ice cream for a delightful dessert.
