Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm water and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the melted butter and the activated yeast mixture. Mix until a dough begins to form.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • While the dough is rising, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into 10-12 pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and twist into a pretzel shape.

  • In a saucepan, melt the remaining butter over low heat. Add minced garlic and Italian seasoning, cooking until fragrant.
  • Brush the tops of the pretzels with the garlic butter mixture and sprinkle with coarse sea salt. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let the pretzels cool for a few minutes before serving. Brush with any remaining garlic butter for extra flavor.
