Ingredients
  

Meat

  • 1 pound Ground Chicken A lean alternative to traditional ground beef.

Vegetables

  • 1 medium Onion Finely chopped.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.

Condiments

  • 1/2 cup Ketchup Adds sweetness and moisture.
  • 1 tablespoon Mustard Yellow or Dijon.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce Adds umami flavor.

Seasonings

  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Bread

  • 4 large Hoagie Rolls Should be crusty on the outside.

Cheese

  • 1 handful Shredded Cheese Optional, such as mozzarella or cheddar.

Instructions
 

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.
  • Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Add ground chicken to the skillet, breaking it apart, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until no longer pink.
  • Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Slice hoagie rolls in half lengthwise.
  • Place rolls cut-side up on a baking sheet. Spoon chicken filling onto each roll and top with cheese if desired.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oven, let cool for a minute, and serve immediately.

Notes

Customize the filling with vegetables or different proteins as desired.
