Equipment

  • Grater
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Frying Pan
  • Skillet
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Syrup
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1/2 inch Ginger grated
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce low sodium
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 1/3 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 3 ounces Salmon Filets
  • 1 tablespoon Avocado Oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine Sriracha, maple syrup, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Whisk them together until well blended. This marinade is what gives the Firecracker Baked Salmon its signature taste.
  • Once your marinade is ready, gently place the salmon filets skin side up into the bowl. Ensure each piece is thoroughly coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the fridge for about two hours. This step allows the flavors to penetrate the salmon.
  • After the marinating time, take the salmon out of the fridge. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This temperature is perfect for getting that nice caramelization on the salmon.
  • While the oven is preheating, heat avocado oil in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. The oil should shimmer but not smoke, indicating it's ready for the salmon.
  • Carefully place the marinated salmon in the skillet, skin side up. Sear the salmon for about three to four minutes. You want to achieve a nice golden color on the top.
  • Once the salmon has developed that beautiful color, gently flip it over. At this point, pour the remaining marinade over the salmon in the skillet. This will help to create a flavorful glaze.
  • Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake the salmon for six to seven minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) and the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • Once the salmon is cooked, carefully remove the skillet from the oven. Let the salmon rest for a minute before serving. This lets the juices redistribute, ensuring each bite is as juicy as possible.
  • Serve the Firecracker Baked Salmon with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and freshly chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation!

Notes

Leftover salmon can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Just reheat gently to avoid drying it out. You can freeze the marinated salmon before cooking. Thaw it in the fridge overnight before cooking for an easy meal. This salmon goes wonderfully with roasted vegetables or a fresh salad, adding a nice crunch to your meal. Feel free to adjust the level of Sriracha based on your spice tolerance – more for heat, less for mild. Top with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley for an added touch of freshness.
