Meatball Ingredients

  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Helps bind the meatballs together.

  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Adds savory depth to the meatballs.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced for aromatic flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning Brings authentic Italian flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavors.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Adds mild heat.

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce Heart of the meatball sub.

Sub Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Sub Rolls Choose crusty Italian or hoagie rolls.
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Adds melty goodness on top.
  • Fresh Basil or Parsley Optional garnish.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Add the egg and mix until just combined.
  • Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, and arrange on a baking sheet.
  • Bake the meatballs for 18-20 minutes until cooked through and browned.
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
  • Slice the sub rolls open lengthwise to create a pocket.
  • Place 2-3 meatballs in each sub roll and ladle marinara sauce over the top.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and sauce.
  • Broil the assembled subs for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve immediately.
