- 1 loaf Italian Bread or any bread that you enjoy.
- 8 Tbs Butter room temp
- 1 Tb garlic minced
- 1 Tb Italian Herbs dried
Start by slicing the Italian Bread to your preferred thickness. I usually go for about one inch thick, just enough to hold onto all that buttery goodness without becoming soggy.
Next, in a medium-sized bowl, combine the room temperature butter, minced garlic, and Italian herbs. Use a fork to mix everything together until it’s well blended. You want a creamy consistency that is easy to spread.
Once your butter mixture is ready, take a generous amount and spread it evenly over one side of each slice of bread. Make sure to cover the bread all the way to the edges to maximize flavor.
Now, it’s time to preheat your oven broiler. Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet, ensuring that the buttered side is facing up. Pop it under the broiler for about four minutes. Keep an eye on it, as you want it to turn a nice golden brown without burning.
After four minutes, it’s time to flip the bread. Using tongs, carefully turn each piece over and return the baking sheet to the broiler for another minute. This will create a beautiful crisp on the other side.
Once the toast is golden and crispy, remove it from the oven and serve hot. You can garnish it with extra herbs for presentation if you'd like!
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, place them back under the broiler for a minute or so to regain their crispiness.
- Freezing: You can freeze the prepared slices before broiling. Just place them in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze until firm, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen when ready to enjoy.
- Pairing: Serve alongside your favorite soup or salad for a complete meal. It’s also fantastic with pasta dishes.
- Seasoning Variations: Feel free to switch the Italian herbs with your favorite blend, such as oregano, thyme, or even a sprinkle of cheese for an extra kick.
- Serving Size: This recipe can easily be halved or doubled, depending on the number of guests you have.
