  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour Base ingredient for the naan.
  • 1 packet Active Dry Yeast About 2 ¼ teaspoons, for leavening.
  • 1 cup Warm Water To activate the yeast.
  • ½ cup Plain Yogurt Adds moisture and tanginess.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Adds richness and helps with browning.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Essential for flavor.
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic (optional) Minced for added flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix well.
  • Add yogurt and olive oil to the yeast mixture, then combine with the flour mixture until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball, place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • Punch down the dough, divide into 6-8 portions, and shape each into a ball.
  • Roll each ball into a ¼ inch thick round or oval.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook each naan for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Brush with melted butter or ghee and serve warm.

Notes

For variations, consider adding garlic, herbs, or stuffing the naan with fillings.
