Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together.
  • In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add in the sugar and mix well.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, pour in the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Prepare the frosting by beating the softened butter with powdered sugar until smooth. Add milk if necessary for consistency.
  • Divide the frosting and add food coloring to create various shades for decorating.
  • Frost the cooled cupcakes and decorate with sprinkles and candy as desired.
