Cake Ingredients

  • 1 package Chocolate Cake Mix 15.25 oz package
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts walnuts or pecans
  • 1 cup Shredded Coconut optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Blend until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  • Pour the cake batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  • In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add granulated sugar and powdered sugar, mixing until creamy.
  • Stir in the chopped nuts and shredded coconut into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Spoon dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate cake batter without mixing.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding almond extract or chocolate chips. Serve warm with ice cream or drizzle with caramel sauce.
