  • 8 slices Thick Bread (Brioche or Challah) Use thick slices to soak up the egg mixture.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Softened at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries Hulled and sliced.
  • 4 large Eggs Forms the base of the custard mixture.
  • 1 cup Milk Whole milk is recommended.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Adds warmth and depth to the custard.
  • 2 tablespoons Vanilla Sugar Can substitute with regular sugar and vanilla extract.
  • 2-4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter For cooking the French toast.
  • to taste Maple Syrup For serving.

Instructions
 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with half of the sliced strawberries. Mash slightly to blend flavors and set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla sugar until smooth.
  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add 1-2 tablespoons of butter.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice of bread and make sandwiches.
  • Dip the stuffed sandwiches into the egg mixture, coating both sides, and allow excess to drip off.
  • Cook the sandwiches for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Remove from skillet and top with remaining strawberries.
  • Serve immediately with maple syrup.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or oven.
