Egg Wash Ingredients

  • 1 large Egg Beaten with water for brushing the crust.
  • 1 tablespoon Water Mixed with egg for the egg wash.

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Add the cold, cubed unsalted butter and cut into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently until the dough holds together. Shape into a disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Slice apples into thin wedges and combine with sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl. Toss to coat and set aside.
  • Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a rough circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Arrange the apple mixture in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border. Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples and fold the edges of the dough over the filling.
  • Whisk together the egg and water for the egg wash. Brush the exposed crust with the egg wash.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until the crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
  • Let the galette cool for 10 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
