  • 2.25 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast Leavening agent for the dough.
  • 1/3 cup Unsalted Butter Contributes richness and moisture.
  • 1 cup Milk Hydrates the yeast and flour.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Balances sweetness.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Filling for the rolls.
  • 1 cup Blueberries Adds natural sweetness and flavor.
  • 1 large Egg Binds the dough together.
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar For glazing the rolls.

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk and 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt.
  • In a separate bowl, beat one large egg and mix in one-third cup of softened unsalted butter. Combine this mixture with the foamy yeast and milk.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  • Prepare the cheesecake filling by mixing 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, ½ cup of granulated sugar, and a splash of lemon juice until smooth.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and roll it out into a rectangle, approximately 12x18 inches.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle one cup of blueberries on top.
  • Starting from one long side, roll the dough into a tight log and cut it into 12 equal pieces.
  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Prepare a glaze by mixing 1 cup of powdered sugar with a few tablespoons of milk until smooth.
  • Once baked, let the rolls cool slightly before drizzling with the glaze.
