Ingredients
  

Meat and Sauce

  • 1 pound Ground beef or ground turkey Choose lean meat for a hearty base.
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped Adds depth to the meat sauce.

  • 28 ounces Crushed tomatoes Forms the foundation of the sauce.

Cheese Mixture

  • 15 ounces Ricotta cheese Adds a velvety texture.

  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese Enhances overall cheesiness.

Noodles

  • 9-12 pieces Lasagna noodles No-boil or regular noodles can be used.

Seasoning

To taste

  • Salt Essential for seasoning.

  • Fresh basil For garnish (optional).

Instructions
 

  • 1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
  • 2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • 3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes and dried Italian herbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, half of the grated Parmesan cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • 5. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of the crockpot.
  • 6. Place a layer of lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
  • 7. Spread a layer of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  • 8. Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a final layer of meat sauce and topping with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • 9. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  • 10. Let the lasagna sit for about 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.

Notes

For variations, consider adding vegetables for a vegetarian option or different types of cheese for extra flavor.
