Ingredients
  

Bread

  • 4 slices Thick slices of bread (sourdough or whole grain) Choose bread that can hold up to the heat while toasting without becoming soggy.

Cheese

  • 200 grams Sharp Cheddar and creamy Irish cheese mix Provides a rich, gooey texture that melts beautifully.

Butter

  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter Softened for easy spreading.

Optional Fillings

  • 100 grams Sliced tomatoes or cooked mushrooms Optional for extra flavor.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  • Flip the slices over and layer cheese on the unbuttered side, adding optional fillings if desired.
  • Place another slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out, to create a sandwich.
  • Carefully place the sandwich onto the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  • Flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
  • Remove from skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice diagonally and serve warm.

Notes

Experiment with different types of cheese and fillings for variations. Serve with a side salad or tomato soup for a complete meal.
