Choose bread that can hold up to the heat while toasting without becoming soggy.
Cheese

Instructions
Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
Flip the slices over and layer cheese on the unbuttered side, adding optional fillings if desired.
Place another slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out, to create a sandwich.
Carefully place the sandwich onto the hot skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
Flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
Remove from skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice diagonally and serve warm.
Notes
Experiment with different types of cheese and fillings for variations. Serve with a side salad or tomato soup for a complete meal.
