- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon Baking soda
- ½ cup Buttermilk
- 1 large Egg slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 cup Salted butter (2 sticks)
- 4 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup Water
- ½ cup Salted butter (1 stick)
- 4 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
- 6 tablespoons Buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 16 ounces Well-sifted powdered sugar
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and baking soda. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract and whisk together. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt the salted butter over medium heat. Stir in the unsweetened cocoa powder and water and bring the mixture to a boil.
Pour the boiling mixture into the bowl with the flour mixture and whisk together well.
Stir in the buttermilk mixture. When all is well blended, pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
