Mixing Bowl
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Butter two sticks
- 1 Egg
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 2.5 cups Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
- Sugar to coat dough balls
Preheat oven to 325º.
Cream butter and sugars. Mix in egg and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and mix till incorporated.
Roll out rounded teaspoons of dough, then roll in sugar.
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 9-10 minutes, if you make slightly larger cookies, it may take up to 15 minutes. I like these slightly undercooked.
- Storage: Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or refrigerate for extended freshness.
- Freezing: You can freeze the cookie dough for up to three months. Just form the dough balls, freeze them on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer bag.
- Pairing: Try pairing these cookies with a glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
- Flavor Variations: Consider adding chocolate chips or chopped nuts for a delightful crunch.
- Gluten-Free Option: Substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend for a gluten-free version.
- Holiday Twist: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for a seasonal flavor that’s perfect for the holidays.
