Instructions
 

  • 1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and active dry yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix well.
  • 3. Add olive oil to the yeast mixture and stir. Pour into the flour mixture.
  • 4. Mix until a dough forms and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • 5. Shape the dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • 6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • 7. Punch down the dough, divide into golf ball-sized portions, and flatten each.
  • 8. Add cheese, pizza sauce, and toppings to the center of each dough circle.
  • 9. Fold the dough over the filling and seal tightly.
  • 10. Place on the baking sheet, brush with olive oil, and optionally sprinkle with herbs.
  • 11. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • 12. Let cool for a few minutes and serve warm with additional pizza sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
