Instructions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of warm water with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Sprinkle 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix thoroughly.
3. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour and salt. Add 4 tablespoons of melted unsalted butter and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
6. Sauté minced garlic in 2 tablespoons of melted butter for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Set aside to cool.
7. Punch down the risen dough, flatten it, and fold in the sautéed garlic and shredded cheese.
