Equipment

  • Wooden Spoon
  • Grater
  • Chef's Knife

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces egg noodles about 1 3/4 cup or noodles of choice
  • 1 tablespoon butter salted or unsalted is fine
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated parmesan bagged and canned will also work
  • Parsley chopped, optional

Instructions

  • In a small pot of lightly salted water, bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, add the egg noodles and cook them according to the package instructions. You'll want them to be al dente, so keep an eye on the time!
  • Once the noodles are cooked to your liking, drain them in a colander. Be sure to reserve a couple tablespoons of the pasta water, as this will help create a creamy sauce later.
  • In a large bowl, add the hot, drained noodles. Now it’s time to add the magic. Toss in the butter, parmesan cheese, and the reserved pasta water. Stir everything together until the butter and cheese melt, enveloping the noodles in a rich sauce.
  • At this point, taste your noodles! You might want to add a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper to enhance the flavors. If you like a bit of heat, a sprinkle of red pepper flakes could also work wonders.
  • If you’re feeling fancy and want to add a touch of color, chop some parsley and fold it in gently. This will not only brighten the dish up visually but also add a fresh flavor.
  • Once everything is well combined, serve the Buttered Noodles into a bowl and enjoy! They’re best served hot, so dig in immediately.

Notes

  • Tip 1: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat gently on the stovetop with a splash of water to bring them back to life.
  • Tip 2: While it’s best fresh, you can freeze Buttered Noodles in a freezer-safe container for up to a month. Just remember to separate them with parchment paper to avoid sticking.
  • Tip 3: Serve Buttered Noodles with a side salad or steamed veggies for a well-rounded meal.
  • Tip 4: Experiment with adding sautéed garlic or fresh herbs for additional flavor.
  • Tip 5: Mix in different types of cheeses like feta or cheddar for a unique twist.
