Equipment

  • Vitamix Blender
  • Reusable Pouch
  • Hemp Seeds

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain kefir
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen mango
  • 1/2 cup zucchini or baby spinach
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or avocado
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds or chia seeds

Instructions

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients: the plain kefir, frozen blueberries, frozen mango, zucchini, coconut oil, and hemp seeds. Having everything ready makes the blending process even smoother.
  • In a high-powered blender, add the plain kefir first. This will help create a smooth base for your smoothie. The kefir’s creamy texture is essential for achieving the right consistency.
  • Next, toss in the frozen blueberries. These little gems not only add flavor but also beautiful color to your smoothie. You'll love the vibrant blue hue that emerges when you blend!
  • Follow the blueberries with the frozen mango. The sweetness of the mango complements the tartness of the blueberries, creating a balanced flavor.
  • Add the zucchini or, if you prefer, some baby spinach. This will boost the nutrition without changing the taste too much. You won't even notice it's there!
  • Next, scoop in the coconut oil. If you’re using avocado instead, it will add a different creaminess, so feel free to swap based on your preference.
  • Finally, sprinkle in the hemp seeds. These little seeds are nutritional powerhouses and will enhance the texture and health benefits of your smoothie.
  • Now it’s time to blend! Start on a low setting, gradually increasing to high. This helps ensure that all ingredients are fully incorporated and results in a silky-smooth finish.
  • Blend until completely smooth, which should take about one to two minutes. Keep an eye on the texture; you want it to be creamy and free of lumps.
  • Once blended, taste your smoothie and adjust if needed. You may want to add a bit of honey or another sweetener if you prefer a sweeter taste.
  • Serve immediately in a small open cup or a reusable pouch. If you have little ones, using a spoon can make it easier for them to enjoy!

Notes

  • Tip 1: If you can’t find or don’t have kefir, try half yogurt and half nondairy milk.
  • Tip 2: Trade in 1 small fresh orange instead of the blueberries for an option.
  • Tip 3: Use almond butter instead of or in addition to the coconut oil.
  • Tip 4: To prep this ahead, place all ingredients except the kefir into a zip-top freezer bag or small freezer storage container. Freeze until ready to use. Place ingredients in a blender, add the kefir, and blend.
