Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk (almond, rice, soy or cow’s milk)
  • 1 cup Old Fashioned Oats (Five Minute Oats)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey , Maple Syrup or Agave Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Blueberries, Blackberries and/or Raspberries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions
 

  • Bring the water and milk to a boil.
  • Add the Old Fashioned Oats, reduce to a simmer over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, and cook for 5 to 7 minutes or until thick and creamy.
  • Add the Honey, Maple Syrup or Agave Syrup and berries, cook an additional minute or until the berries are warmed-through and start to pop.
  • Serve.
  • If serving to a baby under 1 year old, don’t use Honey.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat with a little extra milk to bring back the creamy texture.
  • Freezing: You can freeze individual portions! Just let it cool, then scoop into freezer-safe containers. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating.
  • Pairing: This oatmeal pairs well with a side of scrambled eggs or yogurt for a complete breakfast.
  • Fruit Options: You can use any seasonal fruits such as apples or pears for a different flavor. Just add them in at the same time as the berries.
  • Nut Butter Boost: Stir in a spoonful of your favorite nut butter for added protein and flavor.
