Ingredients
Scale
- For the Turkish Coffee Brew:
- 2 tablespoons finely ground Turkish coffee
- 1 cup cold, filtered water
- Sugar, to taste (optional)
- Equipment:
- 1 cezve (Turkish coffee pot)
- Small demitasse cups for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Coffee Mixture: Add cold water, finely ground Turkish coffee, and sugar (if using) to the cezve. Stir gently to combine.
- Heat Slowly: Place the cezve over low heat. Stir gently a few times until the coffee grounds are fully saturated. Avoid stirring after this point.
- Foam Formation: Allow the coffee to heat until foam begins to rise. Just before it boils over, remove the cezve from heat and let the foam settle.
- Repeat Heating: Return the cezve to low heat and let the foam rise again. Repeat this process 2-3 times to develop a rich crema.
- Serve Carefully: Pour the coffee slowly into demitasse cups, dividing the foam evenly. Let the grounds settle before sipping.
Notes
For added flavour, try brewing Turkish coffee with a pinch of ground cardamom or a drop of rosewater. Serve with a glass of water and a sweet treat like Turkish delight for a traditional experience.
