- 3 lbs Chicken Pieces
- 2 cups Buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons Hot Sauce (optional)
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons Paprika
- 2 tablespoons Garlic Powder
- 2 tablespoons Onion Powder
- 2 tablespoons Dried Thyme
- 1 tablespoon Dried Oregano
- 3 teaspoons Sea Salt
- 2 teaspoons Black Pepper
- Shortening or Vegetable Oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Marinate chicken in buttermilk and hot sauce (optional).
- Whisk together flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Bread chicken in flour mixture.
- Fry chicken in hot oil until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a wire rack.
- Serve hot.
Notes
Increase hot sauce and add cayenne pepper for spicier chicken. Add lemon zest and fresh herbs for a lemon-herb variation. Use smoked paprika for smoky flavor. Serve with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, biscuits, or mac and cheese.
